Avenged Sevenfold Review

After the 2009 death of drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, A7X was dealt with the trouble of finding a new drummer. Former Dream Theater drummer, Mike Portnoy, who was signed on for tour and the new album Nightmare for only 2010 until they found a new drummer for tours in 2011, Arin Ilejay. The newest single released was "Not Ready to Die" which was used for the second DLC of Call of Duty Black Ops:Escalation. The song was featured for the zombies map, Call of the Dead, and it was used as an easter egg in the game, which means if you did a certain set of objectives, the song would play while you're playing the game of zombies. The album Nightmare, featured songs that were either people's fears or issues. "Nightmare" is a heavy metal-like song that contains meaningful lyrics and a soft chorus. The lyrics are basically telling about the fear of going to hell and what is like down there. "Buried Alive" is one of two softer rock songs on the album. The fear and act of being buried alive is the main focus of this song. The softest rock song on here is "So Far Away" which is actually about the passing of "The Rev" and trying to reach out to him in heaven. Accompianed by soft electric guitar riffs and licks. And finally "Welcome to the Family" which is a hard rock song, that in concert is used to introduce you to their crazy and messed up family. A7X's 2011 tour that made a stop in Council Bluffs, IA for the annual River Riot, they played with Three Days Grace, Sick Puppies, and Bullet For My Valentine. Songs they played were off all of their albums, songs off Nightmare included, "Welcome to the Family", "So Far Away", "Nightmare", and "Buried Alive". Here is a link to A7X's music.
